'the big p-word'
Menkui vol 3, chapter 1 and 2 were released earlier this month of July
with text translated by cirrus. Yet, interestingly enough we've seen
another site's release, following our release on IRC, of the same chapters
of Menkui, using the same text written by cirrus, but dropped onto different
scans and credited to another individual besides cirrus. We've had run-ins
with other sites before on the issue of overlapping releases, but never
before on this level. Evidence seems pretty clear when comparing projects
side by side, but nevertheless, a message is being sent to the head
of the other site to see if we can understand what happenned before
any conclusions are drawn.
'your take'
Until then, what is your opinion on theft of translated text within
the fan community? Does plagiarism within a scanslating/anime fansubbing
community have significance beyond the fan community? How can theft
be prevented?
You can either leave something for us on our Zonkboard to the left,
or else you can join a newly created
Aimo BBS for further discussion.

update
Our attempt to contact the other party through their webhost
to negotiate a compromise failed. We encourage sympathizers of our plight
not to spam their message boards as we now know, a deaf ear will not
hear outrage.
