to a new .INFO host! Our site will always be accessible at our
redirect http://shi-ran.cjb.net, but we're now also accessible
at http://shi-ran.info.
Downloads are up! For
now, the downloads should still be accessible. In light of some recent
legal stuff happenning, it might have to come down. downloads>>
Party! Celebration!
Ayano Yamane's "Viewfinder" series has been licensed
by BeBeautiful! It will soon be available in a stupendous and
exciting uncut format, now in English. Yamane fans know what
to do.
Spam, beautiful and glistening.
I set up a mailing list. Sometimes I just release the through mailing

hosting is down
We don't have hosting anymore for our archive, so none of the
links are working. For those of you who have been trying to
download lately, I'm sorry, but you'll have better luck trying
on IRC.
Please contact
if you're willing to host some of the scanslations.
Thanks!
message project
I don't have any information about how much farther the translations
have gotten for the Message Project
that we started in June, but we've been able to accept nearly
all of the submissions for translation.
bogus email
Those of you getting mail from addresses from an @shi-ran.cjb.net
that's not from cibo, cirrus, or our departments are getting
spam... so discard those messages if you get them!
a new project
Throughout our time in operation we have been receiving some
very heartfelt and positive feedback towards some of the stories
that we have released, but we have felt often that it was a
pity that the real makers of the works have not been able to
hear them.
Thus, we have one very last translating task that we would
like to undertake before we completely move on... please

A few things have happenned, in no particular order of succession
that has served to halt progress on this site. Having a term job,
upper division courses, and like a cherry on top, an explosion
of a computer part pretty much booted me offline for a while.
However, Cirrus has still been steadily working on some releases
that are available on our channel #shi-ran on irc.mircx.net. Available
now is a (not-so-new) Boura Naono release called 'Gentle Warmth'
as well as Kaori Monchi's 'Awakening Puberty' chapter 3.
What seems most accurate is just to say that perhaps it wouldn't
be best to expect regular updates on the site for now.
IRC snafu
mar 1st
Our previous home, irc.mircx.net is busted so we've moved our
IRC channel temporarily to irc.irchighway.net. In case that it's
not listed in your server list, all you have to do is connect
to any other server that is already listed, and then type '/server
irc.irchighway.net' (quotes removed) to switch over to that
server. Once you're there, pop into the channel at #shi-ran.
mi casa = tu casa feb 25th
Literally. Woo!
A nice gem of a Slam Dunk doujinshi by Ayane Yamano is now available
for download. Haruko-san invites the team over to her house...
Drunken antics ensue, but it all ties up neatly with a twist at
the end. A must-read for Slam Dunk fans with a yaoi flavored imagination.

We're understaffed for editing work - we have some translations
and projects lying around that have been on the back burner for
lack of people free to work on them. So, if you've got Photoshop,
know how to edit, and are willing to spend some time editing,
we wanna get in touch with you! Contact the peeps at #shi-ran
or give us an email.
Kampai! and cake: feb 5th
Suddenly, a realization: aren't we officially a year old now?
Thus, cheers to everyone who has been with us, and especially
those who've been here every step of the way. Please remember
that if you liked a story, take note of who was listed in the
credits then, and thank them when you see them in the channel!
angst is merely elementary: feb

Danzou is noticing Shou-chan's cuteness increasingly every day.
How is this great big tower of an elementary schooler going to
deal with it? Your guess is as good as mine. Despite my flipness,
this is a story of a more serious tone by Kaori Monchi, called
"Imadoki no Shishunki" - Awakening Puberty.

Happy New Year!
Our newest released project is chapter four of Haginokouji Seiya-Sama
no Ran. This chapter download includes a little extra short comic
at the end.
This is also the first time we're testing out using .PNG files
in place of .JPGs, in response to some reader comments about our
large file sizes for our projects. This reduced the file size
by about 6MB; hopefully this will make it easier on the bandwidth.
Haginokouji Seiya Sama no Ran by Asami Tohjoh. Seiya
is a rebellious teenage heir to an ancient Japanese tradition,
trained since birth to succeed his grandfather. The only one standing
in the way of the corrupt forces, both human and spiritual, that
wish to manipulate him is the intense loyalty of his most devoted
caretaker!

We're going on vacation. Frostbite
and brainfry
don't mix so well, no matter where
you are. We assume that most of you will understand when we
plead stress and exams at
this time of year, right? "Det var aergerligt,"
says I. We'll resume with a fresh
cooked batch of goodies
soon.
In other news, our web download problem has managed to quietly
resolve itself. So, we're leaving you with a newly available web
download of our latest scanslation of the conclusion of Three
Wolves Mountain by Boura
Naono. Being a big fan of the "switcheroo" in a
coupling, this one leaves me deliriously
happy.

Alas, it's not just you. Web downloading appears to be kaput.
Technical difficulties dog our steps, and we can do naught but
scurry about as we drop small brown apologies. In other words:
there is no web downloading available at this time... Bite the
bullet. Try going to our IRC channel for a change. #shi-ran on
irc.mircx.com
In other news... Shi-Ran is now exactly ten months young, and
Cibo is now exactly twenty-one today, the
same day that the opera "Regina di Saba" is produced
in Vienna and the same day that Ringo Starr's tonsils are removed.
(No kidding?)

'Signal' is by Kazuma Kodaka, not Kazusa Takashima. Also,
for those who are having problems with the file being corrupted,
I reuploaded the file. Hope that will fix stuff.
Our files are now distributed across three different servers.
When you click, it randomly selects the same file from either
of these locations to download. Big thanks to Ferret for the upgrade!
Lastly: We now have a mailing list for updates. Check to the

IRC users will have already known this, but we have the new prequel
series to "You're My Love Prize in Viewfinder." This
later installment of the series now focuses on the back story
between the Japanese yakuza leader Asami and the Hong Kong triad
leader Feilon that happenned before the events in the original

1: cibo is back from a study tour through the gritty bowels of
Europe, which included a scary lone voyage through northern Italy.
2: In my absence, site downage was due to our excessive bandwith
usage. We didn't quite get away with a wrist slap - we got pretty
slammed in the monetary units.
3: Cirrus has been releasing stuff while I was gone. Please do
check it out on IRC.

august 29th, 2003
Well, it's been a given since the the 13th of this month that
SHI-RAN as a website is pretty much just a placeholder now - so
this front page is now just a big collection of Links To Other
Places. We're not maintaining a web download archive of our own
for the time being. (Reasons being
stated here) Downloads will be restored in September. Our
project archives are good only as
a reference for the short descriptions we have of our stories.
These are all the people who have chipped in bits of their (or
entire huge chunks) of their webspace in order to help readers
download SHI-RAN projects. We are happy to be able to list them
here for your convenience in downloading. If you have a problem
with the files offered here, please don't hesitate to let us know
at our BBS (we've got a separate 'tech
support' section put up here). Make sure that you make a note
of which site mirror that you're downloading it from so that we
can help you out more efficiently.
give us a holla.
peace out.

Downloads disabled 8/13/03
We're disabling web downloads in the shi-ran archives for now.
Files are always available on IRC on #shi-ran or #nakama (irc.mircx.com).
If you haven't figured out how to use IRC by now, you probably
should give it a shot :)
Murder by bandwidth 8/12/03
The SHI-RAN website, along with download hosting is averaging
about 7-9 gigs a day. Words like "critical mass" and "drastic
measures" and such are being tossed around. We ask visitors to
waltz over to our mirror sites
for downloads if at all possible, rather than downloading from
us for the time being. Meanwhile if you're open to hosting some
of our new releases temporarily (or permanently! woo!) that would
be welcome.
Most of our newest projects are available from these sites:
